ScopeShield is the product of Jon Stram, of Anchorage, Alaska.  In 1995 he started a business on Prince of Whales Island, which is in southeast Alaska.  He rented campers and pickups to hunters who came to island to hunt black bear.  The climate there is very wet and the hunters had a hard time keeping their rifles and scopes dry. This was troubling to Jon and he set out to find a solution. That winter, back in Oregon,  he experimented with different materials to make a cover that was waterproof and wouldn't come off when you took it through heavy brush.  He came up with a design, similar to today's ScopeShield and gave it to customers and friends (like me) to field test.  They were an instant hit.  He started selling them at gun shows in the Portland area and has continue supplying them to Guides and Outfitters across the Northwest and Canada.
Jon moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in June of 2006, and I took over the marketing of the ScopeShield, in Oregon.  I started Northwest ScopeShield and continued the sales of our product at gun shows. I also started placing ads on Ebay and discovered a vast number of new customers buying ScopeShields from all around the world.  My show schedule takes me all over western Oregon and southwest Washington.  In addition, I attend shows in Reno and the bay area.We began selling at Sportsmans Show in the northwest in the winter of 2009.  We were pleased with the response of these new customers.  We plan to ad more shows in the future.
